Uno de los objetivos estratégicos del Programa Nacional de Educación 2001-2006 fue tener una educación superior de buena calidad y a su vez, fortalecer a las Instituciones Públicas de Educación Superior para que pudieran responder a las demandas del desarrollo nacional, es por ello, que a partir del año 2001, el gobierno federal crea el Programa Integral de Fortalecimiento Institucional (PIFI), el cual tiene como objetivos la mejora de calidad de los programas educativos y servicios que ofrecen las instituciones y el aseguramiento de calidad de los programas educativos que hayan sido acreditados en nivel 1 por los CIEES o los procesos de gestión que hayan sido certificados por las normas ISO-9000, para así poder elevar la calidad de la educación superior; ésta estrategia se ha estado impulsando a través de la SEP en todas las universidades públicas.Downloads
