En la época de estudiante en la secundaria, las lecciones de civismo tenían como objetivo, brindar información para prepararnos para la vida cívica. Sin embargo, tal perspectiva no se cumplía en forma cabal, puesto que como se impartían los cursos en forma tradicional, no favorecían el logro de las intenciones de las lecciones cívicas y los resultados por tanto eran magros. La historia de hace algunas décadas y seguramente la actual, en referencia a la vida política, se observa la ausencia de una formación sólida cívica por parte de la población, por ejemplo: al desconocer tácitamente la obligación por parte del Estado de la rendición de cuentas, siendo este un derecho ciudadano, donde en una democracia abierta y representativa debería ser el pan de cada día.
En el libro LA DEMOCRACIA REAL EXPLICADA A NIÑOS Y JOVENES DE JOSE ANTONIO CRESPO, en forma muy amena y didáctica aborda diversos temas sobre la democracia y sobre todo la forma en que los jóvenes deberán de apropiarse de los disímiles temas que desarrolla el libro. El autor es Maestro en Sociología Política y Doctor en Historia por la Universidad Iberoamericana, profesor del Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), autor también de otros textos sobre el tema de política en México, además de ser analista para varios medios impresos y electrónicos.
