La institucionalización de la perspectiva de género

Cada sociedad tiene, de acuerdo a sus circunstancias, mecanismos culturales e institucionales para caracterizar a los sexos, mismas que han originado diferencias entre mujeres y hombres en el desarrollo de los procesos sociales en la historia de la humanidad.
La necesidad de considerar el enfoque de género en las instituciones tiene la finalidad de corregir los desequilibrios existentes en el intercambio social, económico y político que se da entre las personas, en razón de su pertenencia a uno u otro sexo.
La importancia de impulsar transformaciones y cambios en las normas, estructuras y cultura de las instituciones, promueve procesos de desarrollo e instrumentación de políticas para la equidad de género. Lo anterior requiere de procedimientos de seguimiento y evaluación en la aplicación de las mismas, para que los mecanismos institucionales, formales e informales que regulan la asignación de oportunidades entre los géneros modifiquen las cargas sociales.
