OBJECTIVE: To describe the level of time management and identify differences among students at Universidad Linda Vista during the year 2023.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: A quantitative-descriptive research design was employed. Data were collected using the Time Management questionnaire for university students. The instrument consists of 32 items distributed across four dimensions: (a) goals and priorities (11 items), (b) management tools (6 items), (c) preference for disorganization (10 items), and (d) perceived control of time (5 items). Responses were measured on a five-point Likert scale (1 = Never, 5 = Always) and reliability coefficient of 0.715.
RESULTS: The students showed a moderate level of overall time management, as well as moderate levels in the dimensions of goals and priorities, management tools, and Perceived control of time. In contrast, a high level was observed in the dimension of preference for disorganization. Furthermore, significant differences were found in the Management Tools dimension between students in the eighth and those in the fourth semester.
CONCLUSIONS: Strengthening time management skills among the participants is necessary, as the results obtained do not guarantee optimal academic performance; additionally, this study provides a basis for future research on similar topics in the southern-southeastern region of Mexico.
